In the African-Eurasian Flyway we work closely with the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement and we support strengthening waterbird monitoring along the East Atlantic, the Black Sea – Mediterranean and the West Asian – East African flyways. Our work is coordinated by the Strategic Working Group of the African-Eurasian Waterbird Monitoring Partnership which is responsible for coordinating waterbird monitoring activities and decides on the regional use of the Waterbird Fund.
Our partners lead the waterbird monitoring capacity building components of the Wadden Sea Flyway Initiative focusing on the East Atlantic Flyway, the Mediterranean Waterbirds, the Adriatic Flyway Initiative and the RESSOURCE Project focusing on the Black Sea Mediterranean Flyway and the Waterbird Fund aims to assist maintaining the capacity built during these projects after they ended. We are also developing new initiatives to fill the gaps in the Black Sea, the Caspian, Southwest Asia and East Africa.
